Tips for SilageTube® Use:
Tube the bales within 4-6 hours of baling (the hotter the day, the quicker this should be done).
- Do not overstretch the tube (take extra care on hot days).
- Do not overfill the tube (e.g. 150’ tube should hold 35 bales maximum).
- The tube will start to inflate during the first twenty-four hours due to the fermentation process. Under certain conditions the tube may actually burst. To prevent this occurring, puncture a small hole (nail) at the end of the tube to allow the excess gases to escape. Reseal the hole after two to three days with a quality patch tape.
- Inspect tubes on a regular basis and cover holes with a quality patch tape.
